Course Description

Course Introduction

The course introduces the fundamental principle of the crystal chemistry and the main topics include the following:

The symmetry in the construction of molecular and two-dimensional three-dimensional crystalline materials

The expressions of point groups and classification of space groups

Construction of crystal structure models

The principles of X-ray powder diffraction and single crystal diffraction, experimental manipulation and analysis of spectra

Analysis of single crystal structures, software and practical work

Objective

By taking this course, students will know about the fundamental principle of crystal chemistry, possess the abilities for correct experimental manipulation and analysis of spectra. The course will establish the foundation to further study following course in materials science.
